Every time I walk into Target, the cashier asks me if I could like to apply for a credit card. I always say no. I don’t want another credit card. I don’t need another credit card. I just paid them all off! A few days when I went to check out, the cashier saw my debit card and asked if I wanted to apply for the Target DEBIT card. I was about to give the “I don’t want another credit card” speech, instead I asked “What is the Target debit card?”
The cashier explained that this was a Target card linked to my bank account like my regular debit card. I would have a pin to enter to use it (which is more secure than using a credit card at the store) and the funds would come directly out of my bank account. Plus, I would save 5% on all of my purchases at the store and online. If that wasn’t enough, I would also get free shipping on all orders from Target.com. It took just a few minutes to sign up. The cashier needed my license and a blank check. I answered a few questions on the credit card machine and in less than five minutes, I had a receipt I could use until my card came in. The card should take about 10 business days.
I have to say, I love Target for this. I do a lot of shopping their anyway because it is right down the street from my house but this is an awesome benefit. If you are interested in signing up for a Target debit card, you can do it in store at the register or on their website. I love stores that reward loyalty.
I was not in any way compensated for this post. I just think it is an awesome service that I don’t think many people know about.
